Wing It – Shoulder Opening & Strengthening with Dana Rae ParéAthletic forms of yoga such as: Ashtanga, Power, Vinyasa often gets a bad rap for “injuring shoulders”. Yoga, taught properly heals, strengthens and nourishes the shoulders. Perhaps it’s the execution of postures, lack of body awareness, ineffective communication skills, not learning step by step or our life off that mat and many other reasons why we feel lack of strength and openness in the shoulder area.

This workshop series teaches understanding and awareness of the shoulders, strengthens the surrounding areas of the upper back and arms and builds core strength. You’ll feel strong and graceful as you gain flexibility in the shoulders and chest, free up your neck and breathe better as you learn to integrate the entire body holistically.

Ideal for anyone who wants to heal or prevent shoulder injuries or to alleviate chronic upper back or neck tension.

Hands-on adjustments can make or literally break a students yoga experience.

If you look up the word “touch” in a dictionary it says “to bring into contact with something else” (Websters). In this workshop you’ll learn safe & intuitive adjustments to improve the quality of your classes and connect (yes again literally) with your students by bringing them in contact with deeper levels of yoga and understanding. You’ll advance in your teaching skills, knowledge of Yoga and the body in motion. If you do not currently teach yoga you are also welcome to join this workshop (must have an intermediate level of practice). You’ll advance in your yoga practice with a clearer understanding of the alignment and kinesiology of the postures.

Dana brings her knowledge and 2 decades of experience of teaching classes, retreats & trainings to this fun and informative hands-on workshop. Dana is known for her dynamic classes and trainings, she has the unique ability to ‘read the room’ on an energetic level and take students to deeper levels of practice, empowering students through verbal and non-verbal Intuitive Adjustments! (Dana’s bio)

This 3-hour training will fly by as you explore, observe, practice and review the anatomical structure & alignment of fundamental postures, awaken your sight as a teacher, and begin to intuitively know what is right for each individual. Learn who to adjust and who not to, how much and how little, what empowers and teaches and what does not. How to energetically approach a student and how to protect your own body physically and energetically.

This workshop is “99% Practice & 1% Theory” (Jois). You’ll practice, you’ll learn a lot, and come away from this training a more confident, knowledgeable and empathetic teacher. Your new skills will enliven your classes and re-ignite your passion for teaching yoga!

This workshop includes CEU’s for Yoga Alliance certified yoga teachers (RYT’s). Yoga students with an intermediate level of practice are welcomed to join this workshop.

Join Dave Garza H.H.P. for 10 hours of in-depth training in human anatomy (5 hrs each day) at Infinite Yoga in San Diego’s Little Italy. Dave shares his insight and knowledge of human anatomy to help you better understand the functions of muscles, bones and connective tissue and how they work together in the matrix of the body. Using this knowledge as a background, you’ll learn how to identify imbalances in students as they perform asanas, and gain a greater understanding for how your own body moves in practice and in everyday life.

With over 15 years as a massage therapist and over a dozen years teaching bodywork and anatomy in eastern and western traditions, Dave has created this workshop to help break down this dry and often daunting subject into practical, memorable concepts.

This weekend workshop is designed for current yoga teachers and aspiring teachers to deepen their knowledge, build confidence, and explore new concepts. It is also an integral part of Infinite Yoga’s Teacher Training Program. (IY Teacher Training.) There is something in this workshop for Yoga teachers and practitioners of all levels.

What students say about the Functional Anatomy Workshop:

Dave’s engaging and humorous teaching style makes an otherwise complex, sometimes tedious subject much less intimidating and much more easily absorbed. I would have never thought learning anatomy could be so entertaining!  BR, San Diego

It was great! I have nothing but positive comments – no wasting time, no long useless breaks, no topic shifts, everything was covered in the time given. Thanks Dave! AR, San Diego
